Annan Town (APD) Band

The Band celebrated their centenary in 2001.

In 1990 David Shanks accepted the position of conductor and has helped the band grow ever since. In 1992 the Band entered its first National Contest, and arranged the first Riding of the Marches Contest. In September it undertook its first trip abroad to Annan's Twin Town Watermael Boitsfort in Belgium. Later that year a permanent home was found in the Blue Bell Inn.

In 1996 a grant of £20,000 from the National Lottery, added to the £7,500 raised by the Band itself, subsidised the purchase of 17 top of the range new instruments.

Two years later we achieved First Section status, and in 2000 our highest ever placing, coming fourth in the First Section.

In recent years the band has been successful in moving to the 21st Century, by launching their website and receiving sponsorship from APD, who has provided the band with new fleece lined water proof jackets among other things, therefore the bands name was changed to Annan Town (APD) Band.
